Treasury Building

From 2027, the Treasury Building will be revitalised and reopened as Griffith University’s new CBD location. With new facilities for business, law and IT, as well as postgraduate and executive education, the Treasury Building will offer impactful teaching, research and professional opportunities. Centrally located within the heart of Brisbane city, it will also provide enhanced connectivity and collaboration with industry, government and community partners.

Brisbane’s Treasury Building, an iconic heritage landmark, was constructed between 1886 and 1928 in three stages to house the Queensland Government’s Treasury Department. Designed in an Italian Renaissance style by colonial architect J.J. Clark, the building reflects the prosperity of Queensland in the late 19th century. It served as the hub for government administration before being repurposed in the 1990s.
