As one of the first entry points to the new Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct from the CBD, this building has an important role to play. It will host an Aboriginal and European heritage centre with tourist information and interactive exhibits, and house The National Trust of Australia (Queensland).
The building will also include a library café, providing an opportunity to house unique literature with strong links to Queensland’s history and the building itself (as the former State Library of Queensland).
The café will provide an opportunity for apprentice hospitality and culinary students studying at the training facility upstairs to showcase their burgeoning talents.
Built in 1879, the former State Library building is located at 159 William Street and currently houses the Brisbane offices of lead consortium partner, The Star Entertainment Group.
