Traffic & transport

Traffic and transport

Some Brisbane CBD traffic and transport routes changed prior to construction starting on Queen’s Wharf Brisbane.

Destination Brisbane Consortium and its contractors prepare traffic management plans as required and continue to work closely with the Queensland Government, Brisbane City Council and TransLink to best manage any construction related changes.

We are committed to keeping the community well-informed ahead of any changes, and for more information please subscribe to our news and/or construction updates.

On 1 January 2017, two road closures occurred to enable the development’s safe construction.

These temporary road closures include:

  • Queens Wharf Road (adjacent to the Brisbane River)
  • A section of William Street (between Elizabeth and Margaret Streets).
Bikeway

Cyclists and pedestrian changes

As part of the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane development, more than 1 km of riverfront, including the existing Bicentennial bikeway will be upgraded.

We have already completed the first 500 metres from the Goodwill Bridge to the area behind 1 William Street and now we are working on the next section up to the North Quay CityCat terminal.

From time to time the bikeway width may be reduced to allow for construction of the upgrade to occur.

Destination Brisbane Consortium and its contractor will work with representative bicycle groups to discuss changes ahead of time and work to provide the safest through access while also sharing details about construction updates on our website.
