Temporary northbound Margaret Street off-ramp reduced to one lane for William Street Upgrades

Night works to take place on Sunday 8 October 2023 to upgrade a section of the William Street footpath outside 1 William St. Temporary diversions for motorists and pedestrians while the northbound off-ramp onto Margaret Street is reduced to one lane and William St is closed.

When:

From Sunday 8 October 2023 night works and temporary detours will be required to complete works on the footpath and surrounds outside 1 William St. Work hours will be between 6am to 10.30pm Sunday 8 October. All works are subject to weather and site conditions.

Where:

Works will be taking place on William Street footpath between Margaret and Alice Streets. There will be temporary fencing in place around the work area for the safety of pedestrians and workers.

Motorists on Gardens Point Road will have access to Margaret St during the works.

Access for pedestrians on this section of William Street will be closed and pedestrians will be directed to Alice Street.

Changed conditions on William Street (southside):

The drop off zone at 1 William St between Margaret and Alice Streets will be an exclusion zone for plant / equipment and for a work area while the upgrades are underway.

What to expect:

The William Street works will include:

  • Temporary fencing for a work exclusion zone on the current footpath.
  • Noise from machinery including vacuum trucks, saw cutting and excavation equipment.
  • Task lighting directed into the work area.
  • Workers behind the temporary fencing during construction hours.
  • Temporary closure of footpaths and temporary pedestrian diversions.

Detour signage and traffic control will be in place to guide road users and pedestrians during the road closure.
