Temporary closure to Clem Jones Promenade, South Bank, first bridge module lifted into position

On Tuesday 15 June 2021 the first section of bridge will be installed from the South Bank abutment to a temporary support structure in the Brisbane River

When:

Between 9:30am and 2:00pm on Tuesday 15 June 2021, bridge contractor Fitzgerald will install the first deck module over the Clem Jones Promenade at South Bank.

Where:

The bridge deck module will be installed from the newly constructed South Bank bridge abutment (within the fenced site area) to the temporary support structure in the river.

The deck module will initially be floated up the river by barge and then lifted into position using the barge “Darwin’s” 600 tonne crane.

For safety reasons the Clem Jones Promenade in front of the site area will be closed while the overhead lift is occurring. See attached map for details of the closed area and temporary detour.

What to expect:

The Clem Jones Promenade will be closed between the Clem Jones Russell Street Ramp and the Riverside Open Space. Traffic controllers will be on-site to guide pedestrians and cyclists along the temporary detour. Cyclists will need to dismount and follow the detour route.

Ferry terminal access:

South Bank 1 and 2 ferry terminals are currently closed due to upgrading works, ferry passengers will need to make their way to South Bank ferry terminal 3 at the eastern end of the South Bank Parklands via the arbor walk.
