Work has started on Brisbane’s next new area of public riverfront space

Marine piling activity along Brisbane CBD’s riverfront, directly opposite South Bank, is underway to create a new 6,500m2 are of new public space as part of the $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf Brisbane integrated resort.

Barges are being used to construct the suspended structure, followed by crane work to lift pre-constructed sections into position.

Probuild Project Manager, Mark Jones, said the river is being used as the main transport corridor and work platform, to reduce the number of heavy vehicles on CBD roads.

When construction of Queen’s Wharf Brisbane is expected to be complete in late 2022, the new riverfront area will be part of the precinct’s huge public space offering – the equivalent of 12 football fields of public realm.
