Sono Lumo: Brisbane’s Festive Light & Sound Spectacular!

Sono Lumo

The Star Brisbane brought festive magic to life with the inaugural Sono Lumo, a free, immersive light and sound extravaganza that transformed Queen’s Wharf Brisbane’s newly opened public spaces along the river.

Over 40,000 people of all different ages, including families, attended the ten-night celebration at Queen’s Wharf, enjoying a spectacular blend of entertainment and cutting-edge technology.

At the heart of the event was “Carols Rewired”, a showstopping visual and audio experience soundtracked by Brisbane-born DJ Young Franco, blending festive themes, lights, pyrotechnics and electronic beats. The festivities and program featured over 32 local artists, including:

🎵 Harvey M
🎵 Kite String Tangle
🎵 ELSKA feat. Cut Loose (electronic harp & DJ duo)
🎵 DJ Tenzin

The breathtaking spectacle included:

  • 72 searchlights across The Landing and The Star Brisbane
  • 4,545 pyrotechnic cues 🔥🎆
  • 4 snow machines, 8 fog machines, 4 haze machines
  • 625 lights and 350 lighting cues per show—one every 1.7 seconds
  • The only thing missing was a partridge in a pear tree.

Guests also enjoyed seasonal food and drinks from Cucina Regina, Fat Noodle, and Babblers, along with food trucks and pop-up bars, creating a festive “Taste of The Star.” Interactive walkthroughs, heritage light displays, and hourly shows rounded out the experience, making Sono Lumo a vibrant celebration of Brisbane’s talent and creativity.
