Construction notices during October
As Queen’s Wharf Brisbane progresses towards an expected staged opening from August 2024, significant works are taking place in the surrounding streets in preparation.
Below are several outside standard hours and outside of the boundary works worth being aware of:
Saturday 7 October – Weekend southbound Margaret St off-ramp closure
Due to the removal of tower crane from Tower 3, the southbound Margaret St Riverside expressway off-ramp will temporarily be closed on Saturday 7 October from 4am until 4pm at the latest.
Motorists accessing the CBD will need to use the Elizabeth Street southbound and northbound off-ramps. Follow the signage on the Riverside Expressway.
Sunday 8 October – Northbound Margaret Street off-ramp reduced to one lane
Night works and temporary detours will be required to complete works on the footpath and surrounds outside 1 William St. Work hours will be between 6am to 10.30pm Sunday 8 October.
Works will be taking place on William Street footpath between Margaret and Alice Streets. There will be temporary fencing in place around the work area for the safety of pedestrians and workers.
Motorists on Gardens Point Road will have access to Margaret St during the works. Access for pedestrians on this section of William Street will be closed and pedestrians will be directed to Alice Street. All works are subject to weather and site conditions.
Thursday 12 October – Northbound Margaret Street off-ramp reduced to one lane
From 4pm to 8pm on Thursday 12 October, the northbound Margaret St off-ramp from the Riverside Expressway will be reduced to one lane. Gardens Point Rd will have a dedicated exit onto Margaret St.
The temporary changes are being applied to give Gardens Point Rd traffic a priority during an event with increased traffic.
