The dedicated pedestrian boardwalk will offer diversity and variation, extending beyond the mangroves and linking Goodwill Bridge to the precinct.
The existing mangroves along the Brisbane River will become a feature for visitors to Queen’s Wharf Brisbane through the new Mangrove Walk.
Mangrove Walk will include interpretative heritage and integrated story-telling elements that will also provide an alternative path from the Botanic Gardens to Queen’s Wharf Plaza and Queens Wharf Road.
It will feature:
- An Indigenous message trail.
- An exploratory trail with educational installations and interpretive signage.
- A series of landings and lookouts with shaded seating nooks to enjoy the view.
- A boat-shed cafe with views up and down the Brisbane River.
It will also provide a launching facility for small non-motorised crafts such as kayaks and canoes.
The Bicentennial Bikeway will be set against the Riverside Expressway as a dedicated 3.5 metre wide bike path.
