Two-week trial: No right turn onto William Street from Margaret Street

A temporary no-right turn onto William Street from Margaret Street will be in place for motorists this Thursday for two weeks.

When:

From 4am Thursday 17 August 2023 a temporary no-right turn onto William Street will be in place for motorists travelling from the Margaret Street Riverside Expressway off-ramps (northbound and southbound) and Gardens Point Road.

The trial will be in place for two weeks for 24 hours a day.

Where:

On the Margaret Street and William Street intersection, motorists will not be permitted to turn right onto William Street. The right turn movement will be temporarily unavailable while the trial is in place.

Access for pedestrians on William Street will remain in place.  

Access to William Street:

For motorists accessing William Street, a temporary detour will be required. Access will be via George Street, Alice Street and then a right turn onto William Street. See map over page.

What to expect:

This temporary no-right turn onto William Street will be in place during a two-week trial.

  • The traffic signals will not be programmed for right-turn movements
  • Road barriers will be placed along William Street
  • Signage will be installed advising of “no right turn” onto William Street
