Temporary Lane Closures: Margaret Street in October and November

Margaret Street lane closures between William Street and George Street will be in effect on Sunday 27th October and during night works to facilitate a tower crane removal from site.

When:

Works are scheduled across Sunday 27th October and Friday 15th November 2024 to remove a tower crane from Queen’s Wharf Residences. The Margaret St lane closure will take place on Sunday 27th October 2024 between 5am and 2pm and during night works as required between Monday to Friday 8pm and 5am. These works are required during this time due to the high-risk nature of the task.

If the site conditions are not suitable a further Margaret Street lane closure will take place on Sunday 3rd November 2024.

Why:

An exclusion zone on Margaret Street is being made for works to dismantle a Tower Crane from the Queen’s Wharf Development.

Where:

Margaret Street (south of The Star Brisbane) to George Street will be impacted while works are underway. Access to The Star Brisbane will be maintained via William St at the direction of police and traffic control.

Changed traffic conditions:

Motorists accessing the CBD can continue to use the Margaret Street southbound and northbound off-ramps and will be required to follow the direction of police and traffic control to access Queen’s Wharf and the CBD. Access will also be maintained to the Star Brisbane car park entry on Margaret Street.

What to expect:

In addition to advance notice for motorists to use alternative routes, the following is also expected:

  • Margaret St lane closures and reduced speed limits on the approach to the road closure for the nominated dates.
  • Detour signage and traffic control to direct motorists and guests to The Star Brisbane and into the CBD
  • Engine noise from cranes lifting material within the site.
  • Intermittent noisy works, including hammering and truck movement.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your ongoing patience.
