Riverside Expressway temporary lane closures for overhead bridge works

Out-of-hours work is required to carry out the installation of safety screens to bridge section above Riverside Expressway

 

When:

Night works: From Monday 9 January to Wednesday 25 January, between 9pm and 5am, bridge contractor Fitzgerald Constructions will be working out of hours to install the safety screens to the Neville Bonner Bridge section that sits above the Riverside Expressway. Works will occur each Sunday to Thursday night with a reduction to single lane each way.

For up two nights on Sunday 15 and Monday 16  January, all northbound lanes will be temporarily diverted along George St between 11pm and 5am. See map below.

Traffic Controllers and Queensland Police will be in attendance during these periods. All work is subject to weather and site conditions.

 

Where:

The Riverside Expressway in each direction between Elizabeth St and Margaret St off-ramps over the 16-night period. See map below.

 

What to expect:

Access Equipment and small cranes working to install external finishes to the bridge section that spans over the Riverside Expressway. Traffic Controllers and Police will be in attendance during these periods. The Captain Cook bridge will remain open.

 

Pedestrian and Cyclist Access:

The Bicentennial bikeway will remain open although for safety reasons will require intermittent hold and release of users during stages of overhead lifts. Traffic controllers will be on-site during these periods.
