Held as part of the Christmas in Brisbane celebrations for 2024, The Star Brisbane proudly presents Sono Lumo, a blend of Christmas traditions and cutting-edge technology, creating a vibrant new Brisbane celebration at Queen’s Wharf Brisbane.
Sono Lumo is a free event and will be held in Queen’s Wharf Brisbane’s newly opened spaces of Queen’s Wharf Plaza and The Landing along the river’s edge.
As part of Sono Lumo, which includes pop-up restaurants and bars and static lighting features across the public realm, a nightly light & sound show will be held each hour at 7:30pm, 8:30pm & 9:30pm on the façade of The Star Brisbane and across the precinct.
As part of this 8 minute performance, theatrical lighting and pyrotechnic effects will be used.
Event Dates & Times
Venue: Queen’s Wharf Brisbane & The Star Brisbane
Installation: Monday 25 November – Tuesday 3 December from 7:00am – 6:00pm with some out of hours rehearsals
Event Dates: Wednesday 4 December – Sunday 15 December
** No event scheduled Monday 8 December & Tuesday 9 December
Event Times: 5:00pm – 10:30pm (site will conclude by 11:00pm)
Please note as part of the nightly 8 minute show at 7:30pm, 8:30pm and 9:30pm during Sono Lumo, there will be elements of pyrotechnics used.
Dismantle: Monday 16 December – Wednesday 18 December 7:00am – 6:00pm
Cost: Free to the public, with food and beverage available for purchase on site. This is a licensed event.
Consider your journey – Active Transport Users
During install & dismantle – there will be a number of vehicles on site which will be managed by traffic control, security and the Sono Lumo event staff. Intermittent short stoppages maybe required as equipment is moved into place.
During the event – for safety reasons, Bicentennial Bikeway active transport users be requested to dismount between 4:00 pm – 11:00 pm and walk for 100m through the shared zone for the safety of the audience within the area.
Currently there are no road closures affecting the immediate area of the Sono Lumo event and The Star Brisbane venue.
