Bicentennial Bikeway changes adjacent to North Quay City Cat Terminal.

From Wednesday 12 June to Thursday 20 June 2024, intermittent works will take place along the Bicentennial Bikeway. Pedestrian and active transport users will be required to reduce speed and follow the direction of signage and traffic control.

When:

Works date extended: From 12th June to Thursday 20 June 2024 between 9.00am and 4.00pm and then during night shift from 7.00pm and 4.00am some adjustments will take place along the Bicentennial Bikeway. This will include the introduction of a zebra crossing to facilitate ferry users and a designated green bikeway path in the North Quay City Cat terminal location.

Where:

From the City Cat terminal at North Quay to the start of The Landing, intermittent works will take place to complete the zebra crossing, designated green lanes for cyclists and required line marking.

Traffic control will be in place and the work zones will be clearly marked with fencing, directional and speed limit signage.

Temporary Work Zones:

The works are required while rejuvenation works to transform the public space continue. Users may be temporarily redirected while fences are being realigned during the nominated work hours.

New signage will be implemented in this section of the bikeway and cyclists will now be required to giveway to pedestrians and ferry users at the crossing.

What to expect:

The temporary bikeway works will include the following:

  • Temporary works zones on the Bicentennial Bikeway for pedestrians and active transport users (refer to map below)
  • Introduction of a painted zebra crossing at the North Quay City Cat Terminal entry/exit
  • Change in priority- Cyclists must giveway to pedestrians at the crossing.
  • Introduction of designated painted green lanes for cyclists
  • Reduced speed limit for cyclists and electric scooters in this area
  • Traffic control in place along bikeway
  • Lighting, directional signage, mirrors and fencing as required along the bikeway.
