Maritime based works for future public realm to begin soon

From 21 May 2019, Probuild will begin maritime works adjacent the Bicentennial Bikeway for construction of The Landing, The Cove and upgraded Finger Wharves.  These early works are to allow for permanent structural (piling) work to occur.

From Tuesday 21 May 2019 until Thursday 20 June 2019, early works will be undertaken ahead of the construction of new maritime structures that will create more than 2,000m2 future public open space. Works will include archaeological investigations in the river and the punning and removal of small pockets of existing vegetation down to ground level.

The replacement and restoration of vegetation will occur prior to the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane development opening, expected in 2022.

Construction hours for this work area will be 6.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday.

The work will be undertaken along a 300 metre section of the river adjacent to the Bicentennial Bikeway and underneath the Riverside Expressway. See the attached map for specific locations.

Traffic controllers will be on hand to safely direct pedestrian and cyclist movements while this activity is undertaken.

What to expect:

For safety, temporary fencing will be established to separate the works area from the public while vegetation works are undertaken.

Traffic controllers and directional signage will assist cyclists and pedestrians and disruptions are expected to be minimal.
