Night works: Energex services installation works will occur from Tuesday 18 July until Thursday 20 July 2017, between 8pm and 5am.
From Tuesday 18 July until Thursday 20 July 2017 work will occur between 8pm and 5am to install electrical cables into Energex pits along George Street and in Stephens Lane.
The work is necessary to connect important services as part of the demolition and enabling works for the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane project.
The night works to install electrical cable into underground conduits will occur at the following Energex pit locations:
- George Street end of Stephens Lane
- within the footpath on both corners of the George and Charlotte Street intersection
- within the footpath on the western corner of the Elizabeth and George Street intersection.
See attached map for details.
What to expect:
Equipment used will include small trucks and cable-hauling plant with winches.
Pedestrian access will be available at all times. Where possible, this will be via the section of footpath furthest from the road (on the building side), however there may be times when pedestrians are required to use the closed traffic lane for access. To ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists, traffic controllers will be on hand to provide assistance as required.
Vehicle lane closures:
To maintain safety, exclusion zones will be set up around the work zone each night during the services installation. This will include the need for lane closures of the eastbound traffic lane on parts of George Street between Mary and Elizabeth Streets. Traffic controllers will be in place to assist with pedestrian and traffic movements.
The footpath and traffic lane will reopen to pedestrian and vehicle traffic by 5am daily.
